Hollywood icon and fashionista Elizabeth Taylor passed away in March and since then rumors have been flying about what will become of her famous fine jewelry collection. The famous Burton-Taylor diamonds and Krupp diamond were both part of her collection, valued at $150 million. Many have been trying to contact Christie’s to see if the rumors were true and until today no one at the auction would comment on the matter. The announcement was made earlier today that Christie’s has made a deal with the icon’s family and will be auctioning off the fine jewelry collection along with some of her artworks, clothing, and other belongings.
Instead of holding a one day event for fans and collectors to come make bids, Christie’s will be spreading out the sale through multiple events which will all be announced later this spring. The prices of the pieces up on the bidding block and the exact diamonds that will be for sale are still unknown. It will be interesting to see who shows up for the bidding. There is bound to be a star studded line up at Christie’s door for each of the auctions and everyone is excited to see which celebrity or collector will grab what.
