The Continued Gulf Clean Up

A look at Gulf disaster a year later

As the one year anniversary of the heartbreaking Gulf disaster approaches on April 20th, the world reflects on the on the tragic effects along with the changes that have been implemented to improve the drastic damage that the spill caused.

BP has taken into effect many company changes since taking the heat and responsibility for the oil spill and damage. Many top executives lost their job and were replaced because of the disaster and today Bob Dudley controls the CEO position. The company continues to settle the many suits they had placed upon them for the people who lost their lives in the attempt to rectify the situation aboard the Deepwater Horizon.

While reports do claim that the overall health of the ocean is almost back to normal a year after the events, many are not as optimistic that the health key indicators such as the sea floor, dolphins, and oysters will continue to improve. Researchers believe it will take years to get to the point we were at before the tragic spill occurred. This continues to outrage many people who know and understand the prevention methods that could have been taken by BP to completely avoid the situation all together.

Online Dating Services Take a Stand

Match.com will screen users against sex offender database

Not too many years ago many people met their future spouse in the grocery store or local bar. In today’s society it is not uncommon to meet your future spouse before you ever see them in person. Match.com, eHarmony.com, Zoosk.com, and Plentyoffish.com are just a few of the many options people have today to make a lifelong connection via the internet.

Recently Match.com has decided to tighten up on who they allow to make profiles on their website. After a women filed a suit against the company for claiming that she was attacked by a man that she met on the website, the company has now decided to pretest and cross check individuals using the sex offender database. While many question why this was not a procedure that was put into effect when the company was created, Match.com claimed they did not want to take a chance with flaws in the system and false sense of a security to begin on their site.

While the changes are ones I believe are necessary for not only customer loyalty but for customer safety as well I do believe that clients of the website need to realize and take responsibility for the chances they are taking when they choose to find partners on the internet. There is no security check when you meet someone in the grocery store or local bar so clients need to not only have their guard up while shopping for a spouse online but need to be fully aware of the risks they face.

Cage Bailed Out by Dog

Nicolas Cage was arrested Saturday in New Orleans, where he is shooting his latest film “Medallion”, for domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace. According to several news sources, the actor was so heavily intoxicated that he could not remember where he lived and started a violent argument with his wife, Alice Kim, in a tattoo parlor. Their argument about the location of their apartment then moved out into the street where Nicolas allegedly pushed her, punched a few cars and dared the police to arrest him. Witnesses say that this scene could have won him a real Oscar.

The bail for Nic was set at $11,000 and was paid by the one and only Dog the Bounty Hunter. In a statement to E! News, the bounty hunter said: “I am a truly dedicated fan of Mr. Cage and will not be granting any interviews about my client as I wish to respect his privacy. I performed my duties as a bail bondsman and not in connection with our show.”
