E-Cigarette Smart Packs to Help Hookups

You might have seen Blu Cigs – battery-powered cigarettes with blue lights at the tips and vapor instead of smoke. Now Jason Healy, the president of Blu Cigs, has invented a Smart Pack with ID technology that will make it easier for his consumers to hook up with each other.

When a fellow user is “vaping” (not smoking) within a 50-foot range, the Smart Pack will notify both parties, potentially prompting social interaction. The pack is also connected to social media sites like facebook and Twitter. Users will be able to sync their Smart Packs to their computers to change their profiles, see the people they’ve connected with, update privacy settings, or port over data to social media platforms like Facebook.

“You can set whatever parameters you’d like,” Healy says. “It could range from leave me alone to I’m single to I want a drinking buddy all the way to please date me.”

Apparently Blu Cig users already use the products as ice breakers. Healy claims that he was inspired by emails from a doctor who told him that using his product “kept getting him laid.”

Healy might have just made up that last part to sell more Blu Cigs, though.

Cell Phones May Kill Bees

Bee populations have been mysteriously plunging recently. This is serious news, because of the 100 crops that provide 90% of Earth’s food, over 70 rely on bees for pollination. Swiss researcher Daniel Favre of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology thinks that our cell phone obsession may be part of the problem.

Favre and his team performed 83 experiments that recorded honeybees’ reactions to cell phones in call, standby and off modes. Honeybees made ten times more noise when a phone call was made or received. Usually, a honeybee making noise in a hive is a signal for bees to leave the hive. But in these cases, they just became confused. Favre believes their confusion comes from the cell phones’ electromagnetic fields.

But these studies have not conclusively determined that cell phones are behind bee deaths. But it may be one factor among many, including air pollution (this can disorient bees), virulent fungal pathogens that are spread via trade, and climate change (altered rainfall patterns can change plants’ flowering times, which in turn affects nectar supplies).

Jennifer Aniston: Not the Girl Next Door

America’s sweetheart, Jennifer Aniston is known for starring in romantic comedies, yet her new comedy “Horrible Bosses” portrays her in a different light. Working as an orthodontist, Aniston is one of three bosses (along with Kevin Spacey and Colin Farrell) who makes their employees lives a living hell. The employees include an all-star cast of Jason Batemen, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis. After working for these horrible bosses, the three men decide that murder is the only option.

Jennifer Aniston plays a sleazy orthodontist, which is out of character for her. It has been rumored that Aniston filmed a few topless scenes, but whether or not it will be added is unsure. However, although she may not be fully exposed, Aniston filmed some footage wearing skimpy lingerie. She is totally out of character, but fans are anxiously waiting for the film to be released.

The comedy will be released July 8.
