Oprah Winfrey Oscar Rumors Debunked

Winfrey has been involved in the Academy Award several times in the past, but will not be involved in the 2012 ceremony, sources say.

Although Oprah Winfrey has hardly been away from television for more than two months, rumors have been swirling that the television personality will be back on the screen sooner than viewers think.

The return of Oprah buzz began when it was speculated that Winfrey was in talks to be the host of the 2012 Academy Awards.

“The camera loves Oprah. Oprah’s a genius.  But it’s not true,” Academy president Tom Sherak said.

It is logical to see how the rumors began, with Winfrey acting as a presenter at the Academy Awards several times in the past and even earning a best supporting actress award for her exceptional performance in The Color Purple.

However, it looks as though Winfrey’s hiatus from the entertainment industry is for the long haul.

After the airing of her farewell show on May 25, 2011, Winfrey has been devoting her focus to her magazine, “O,” the Oxygen television network, and various philanthropic projects.

So, when will Winfrey return as the queen of television?  Only time will tell.
