Virus Discovered the Kill Breast Cancer in Seven Days

According to rawstory.com, research has been done at Penn State College that has led to the discovery of a virus that can kill all types of breast cancer.  Scientists at Penn State have gathered that this particular virus can kill the cancer within seven days of first introduction in a laboratory setting.  “The virus, known as adeno-associated virus type 2 (AAV2), is naturally occuring and carried by up to 80 percent of humans, but it does not cause any disease.”  In seven days, AAV2 destroyed all of the breast cancer cells.  “Better still, it proved capable of wiping out cancer cells at multiple stages, negating the need for differing treatments used today.”  Researchers are still determining the viral genes that are being used and hope to find out to be able to screen drugs to treat the cancer.

Saudi Women Gain Right to Vote

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah ordered the women of his super conservative country the right to vote on Sunday.  The only downfall to this new right that women can take advantage of is that it won’t be in full swing until 2015.  Wajeha al-Hawaider, a Saudi feminisit, states her opinion on why the right to vote should be active now for women, “I think the king doesn’t want to shake the country, but we look around us and we think it is a shame … when we are still pondering how to meet simple women’s rights.”  This movement in such a widely known conservative country is the right step in allowing a large portion of their citizens to finally contribute to the say of what happens in their lives.  Hopefully this can be a step in the right direction in allowing women more rights, such as “the right to drive and travel without permission from male guardians.”

Rick Santorum, a former Pennsylvania Senator currently running for the Republican Presidential nomination, claims to now have heard booing at the GOP Presidential debate.

Several Republicans at the debate, which was held on Thursday, Sept. 22, booed when a gay active member of the military asked a question on “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.”

Santorum has been given a lot of trouble for not stopping the booing.  He apologized for not doing so on Fox News on Friday, Sept. 23.  However, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, who was the moderator for the debate, gave some support, explaining that she wasn’t sure whether they were booing the soldier or the topic.

Twenty years ago on September 24th 1991 front man Kurt Cobain and his grunge band Nirvana released a legendary album that would still be blasting through the headphones of teenagers around the world decades later.

“Nevermind” is the second album that was released by 90’s rock band Nirvana. The album featured the bands first and most popular single “Smells like Teen Spirit,” which became known as the teenage anthem.

The album also featured hit songs like “Lithium” and “Come as You Are.”

“Nevermind” sold over 30 million copies and held the number one spot in Billboards top 200. This album is considered one of the best rock albums in history. Nirvana and this teen anthem album helped to influence the rise in alternative rock music.

Nirvana got their inspiration from bands such as “The Pixies.”
The band was made of lead man Kurt Cobain, drummer David Gohl and bassist Krist Novoselic.

Little did this trio know that they would later be known as one of the most influential and historical rock bands in history.

In 1994  Nirvana stopped their legacy after the death of Cobain. On April 8th 1994 the rocking front man was found dead in his guest house with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Fans of Nirvana have stayed loyal through the years and remain fans of this historic band. Even today people from after the years of Nirvana’s prime find themselves listening to the powerful rebellious songs of this out of the box rock band.

Universal Music Enterprises has announced the release of a four –CD/DVD deluxe edition of Nirvana’s “Nevermind” album.

Millionaire Murder

Orlando based developer Bob Ward was convicted for the murder of his wife on Saturday.  After a 12 hour deliberation by six jurors, Ward was found guilty of second-degree murder.  The murder took place in his own mansion.  He could face a sentence of up to life in prison.

The accusation took place back in September 2009.  His wife’s, Diane Ward, death occurred just days before she was to give a deposition against her husband in a law suit that claimed he wasted millions of dollars on unnecessary things while his business was failing.  Ward never took the stand to defend himself in the trial.

Various pieces of evidence were used against Ward in the case of his wife’s murder.  There were signs of a fight the same night Diane was shot, and prosecutor Robin Wilkinson even used a 911 recording in which Ward himself calls to say ‘I just shot my wife.’

The Last “Last Meal”

When death row prisoner Lawrence Russell Brewer ordered an extravagant last meal prior to execution, and didn’t touch a single bite, that was the last straw for the state of Texas.

Brewer made the demand to have a variety of mouth-watering foods, including barbecued pork and ice cream, but then claimed he wasn’t hungry and didn’t eat any of it.  After this debacle, Texas has ended their long held tradition of meeting the requests of a prisoner’s last meal.  From that moment out, the last meal would be nothing special; just the usual “prison fare.”

According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Brewer was convicted for the murder of a black male in 1998.  Senator John Whitmire has had enough of the final meal tradition, claiming such prisoners have not warranted that privilege to begin with.
