NBC’s The Playboy Club Canceled; PTC Rejoices

NBC’s The Playboy Club, a show hated by the Parents Television Council, has been canceled.

The PTC was delighted over the news, as they’ve been protesting the show since even before it aired three weeks ago.  The group was against the show because of its connection to Playboy magazine.

PTC President Tim Winters said that he hopes the cancelation of the show will tell major networks that “inappropriate” shows, like The Playboy Club, should not air on television.

The Playboy Club will be replaced by Rock Center, a show staring Brian Williams, at the end of October.

Despite the fact that the iPhone 5 will be announced within the next couple of days, analysts are saying that Apple will continue to sell their iPhone 3.

The iPhone 3 will now be available for free with a service contract or $399 for one without.  The iPhone 4 will also go down in price, now being available for $99 with a service contract and $499 for one without.

This marks the first time that Apple will keep a two-year old phone on the market.  Many analysts believe this tactic is being used to appeal to mid-market buyers.

Both Rev. Al Sharpton and Republican Presidential hopeful Herman Cain have chosen to speak out against Gov. Rick Perry’s use of the N-word.

Currently Perry’s campaign is doing damage control after a Washington Post article revealed Perry used the N-word to describe a ranch he once visited with his father.

Sharpton believes the slur will actually harm Perry’s chances in the Republican primary, while Cain believes that Perry’s action was insensitive.

Amanda Knox to be Released from Jail

American student Amanda Knox, who has been in an Italian jail for the past four years, has been acquitted of murder.

In 2009, Knox and her former boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were found guilty for the 2007 murder of Knox’s roommate Meredith Kercher.

Knox was given a 26-year sentence at the time.

Before the decision to acquit both Knox and Sollecito however, Kercher’s family told the media that they would never be able to forgive her killers.

Kercher’s mother, Arlene, would not say whether she believed the two were guilty, but rather that she trusted the Italian court system to do the right thing.

On the other hand, Kercher’s brother, Lyle, said that he thought the original conviction was the correct decision.
