The missing persons case of Ray Gricar has been thrusted back into the media due to former Penn State Coach Jerry Sandusky.

Gricar, a district attorney, failed to prosecute Sandusky for a sex crime in 1998.  He investigated allegations that Sandusky was inappropriate with an 11-year old boy in 1998.

Gricar disappeared on April 15, 2005.  He called his girlfriend to tell her he was going for a drive and the DA did not come back that night.

The next day, his car was found locked and abandoned in a parking lot.  Gricar’s cell phone was in the vehicle, but his keys and wallet were mising.

When police searched Gricar’s home for clues, they discovered his work laptop was missing.  The laptop was found in the river in July 2005.  The case went cold after the discovery.

In April 2009, investigators announced that someone had researched ways to destroy computer hard drives on the Gricar family computer before he disappeared.  Authorities doubt the incidents are related.
