Utah Binge Drinking Incident

Universities around the nation are attempting to crack down on binge drinking. At the University of Minnesota, a non-profit funded grant is sponsoring a $75,000 anti-binge drinking campaign. The hope is to reduce drunken incidents that could be avoided. The campaign wants to find new ways to reach students. My idea is simply to tell students stories about the horrors of binge drinking. This story should top the list.

According to a recent police report in Logan Utah, a binge drinker found himself in an indefensible situation prior to being arrested. After urinating and passing out in a stranger’s home, cops arrested a heavily intoxicated man and brought him to the hospital when he couldn’t wake up. The cop who arrested the man didn’t think he was a threat, and left the room for only a few minutes. When he returned to the room moments later, he stumbled upon a disturbing site.

A hospital employee named Hal Weston was discovered performing oral sex on the arrested unconscious man.  The cop immediately notified hospital security and decided to let them arrested the employee. He obviously wanted nothing to do with the strange incident. The 46-year-old Weston was charged with forcible sodomy.

For the victim in this situation,  a lesson was learned. He probably won’t be binge drinking much anymore. Next time you are thinking about getting hammered, take note of the possible consequences of binge drinking. It could be much worse than simply being arrested.
