Nelson Mandela Released After Surgery
Nelson Mandela, former South African President and the first black leader of the nation, was released from the hospital over the weekend after a brief one night stay. Mandela reportedly had a procedure called a laparoscopy.

A laparoscopy is a standard procedure that doctors use to look at the abdomen and pelvic regions with a small camera. According to South Africa’s current President, Jacob Zuma, Mandela’s procedure did not show any major health problems for the 93-year-old.
