Hollywood’s megastar couple have finally decided to get hitched!

After around 8 years together, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have gotten engaged.

Pitt’s manager, Cynthia Pett-Dante, confirmed the news on April 13, 2012.  ”Yes, it’s confirmed.  It’s a promise for the future, and their kids are very happy.  There’s no date set at this time,” Pett-Dante said in a statement.

The engagement ring, which cost $500,000, was custom made by Pitt with help from Beverly Hills jeweler Robert Procop.

The news of Pitt and Jolie’s engagement comes as a bit of a shock, especially since in 2006, Pitt admitted that he and Jolie weren’t planning to get married until gay marriage was legalized in all of the states.  But apparently constant pushing from their brood of six children led to the engagement, as all of them wanted their mother and father to tie to knot.

Jolie and Pitt met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005.  The couple has three adopted children: Maddox, Zahara, and Pax, and three biological children: Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox.
