Former assistant Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky will be facing all 52 counts of child sex abuse. Judge John Cleland ruled against the defense’s argument to dismiss the counts because they were based on hearsay.

Sandusky’s attorney, Joe Amendola, also claimed that the charges were without merit and the evidence was hollow. This was not Amendola’s first request for the charges to be dismissed against his client.

This week, the 16-member jury for the trial was chosen in Bellefonte, Pennsylania. Nine of the jurors have ties to Penn State in some way. The trial will officially begin with opening statements on Monday.

6.6 Million Young Adults Joined Parents’ Insurance

Since President Obama’s health care reform bill passed in 2010, nearly 6.6 million people in the U.S. have joined their parents’ health insurance, according to the non-profit health researcher Commonwealth Fund. About 13.7 million young adults are covered under their parents overall.

Obama’s bill allowed anyone under the age of 26 to be covered under his or her parents’ insurance. Previously, young adults, or anyone who is 19-25, had the highest uninsured rate in the country.

Most of the young adults were not covered because they had already graduated college and did not have any health insurance. Students are usually allowed to stay on their parents’ health insurance through their schooling with most insurance plans.

The report, which was released Friday, also said that many other problems still remained for this group of people, including medical bills and debt. 36% of people aged 19-29 still had massive amounts of debt and bills despite their coverage.

The Commonwealth Fund found that young people have the highest rate of visits to the emergency room, even above elderly people and young children. This group is also more likely to have HIV or HPV when seeking treatment in the ER.

Johnson & Johnson will put aside $600 million in the next quarter for lawsuit settlements involving illegally marketed prescription drugs. This is in addition to the $1.7 billion that the corporation saved in 2011 for the same purpose, according to its January earnings report.

J&J has been charged with illegally marketing the anti-psychotic drug Risperdal, and for misleading both doctors and patients on the risks of the drug, going back as far as 2002. A judge in Arkansas ordered the company to pay $1.1 billion, which J&J plans to appeal.

Over the past year, the corporation’s shares have declined by 4.8%. They also gained less than 1% as of the end of this week. To read more about the lawsuits and settlements, click here.
