This weekend, police arrested more than two dozen people, including visitors from Florida and Texas, in connection with a prostitution ring in Atlantic City, NJ. One of them was Khalif Wyatt, the star guard for the Temple basketball team, who was reportedly celebrating his 21st birthday.

Wyatt, who is supposed to be a senior in the fall, was arrested after soliciting an undercover police officer this past weekend. Police charged him with engaging in prostitution and resisting arrest, according to Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia.

The basketball star is originally from Norristown, PA. Last season, Wyatt had the most points on Temple’s team, and was a part of the Atlantic 10′s second team. The university is reportedly still looking into the charges against the player.

Over the past few years, the organization has had slow returns on capital, which caused the prize money to be cut, along with other areas such as banquet costs. Winners this year will receive about $1.1 million dollars, which is down 20% from the $1.4 million awarded last year.

The Nobel Prize is given each year in six different categories to qualified candidates around the world. To learn more about the cuts, click here.

Jindal Critiques Obama, Calls Him “Most Liberal” President Since Carter

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal critiqued President Obama at the Chicago Conservative Political Action Conference on June 8.

Jindal, who could potentially be the running mate for Mitt Romney, stated in his speech that he believes the private sector is like a foreign country to Obama.

“I suspect that many in the Obama administration really don’t believe in private enterprise.  At best they see business as something to be endured so that it can provide tax money for government programs,” said Jindal.

Jindal’s speech was a response to Obama’s recent statement that the private sector is doing fine.  Also in the critique, he pointed out that since 23 million Americans are unemployed in the United States, the private sector obviously was not fine.

Jindal also said that Obama is “the most liberal, most incompetent president in the White House since Jimmy Carter,” and called him a coward for staying out of the Wisconsin recall election.  But Romney too was absent from the Wisconsin debacle.

Religious Clash Between Muslims and Buddhists in Burma

A clash between Muslims and Buddhists in Burma has left four people dead.

On June 8, violence occurred in Rakhine state’s Maungdaw town.  Sources claim that Muslim attackers had torched the home of several Buddhist’s and stabbed those that fled.  Police were called to the homes of a dozen Buddhist villagers.  They ended up having to open fire and order a curfew in order to stop growing tensions between the group.

Many believe the Muslim’s attack was revenge for an attack by Buddhist’s on June 3 that had left 10 Muslim bus passengers dead.

The violence has gotten so bad that it has spread to the capital.  On the morning of June 8th, a Buddhist funeral was attacked with stones by Muslims.

Burma’s government has since decided to take matters into their own hands and have hired a minister and senior police chief to look into the investigations.  The minister, police chief, and a 16-member committee will have until June 30 to determine the cause of the incident and how to pursue legal action.

In Burma, Buddhists made up 89 percent of the population, while Muslims only make up four percent.
