Fox News has released background information on the Colorado gunman who has killed 12 and wounded at least 50 at an Aurora, Colorado movie theatre.
Last month James Holmes, 24, was a medical student at the University of Colorado studying neuroscience.
Holmes dropped out of the university last month without explanation.
It was also confirmed that Holmes also received his undergraduate degree in neuroscience from the University of California Riverside.
This raises questions of Holmes’ familiarity with chemicals and explosives.
Questions are also being raised in accordance to where Holmes’ got his connection to the weapons.
It is reported that he was armed with four weapons, a semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun and two 40 caliber glocks.
A glock is a handgun with compact dimensions for both open and concealed carry.
It was also reported by the manager of Holmes’ apartment complex that he had not been a resident long.
He explained that Holmes had only been moved into the complex for a few weeks.
Bomb technicians, police and firemen are still working to disarm and identify the flammable and explosive booby traps Holmes’ had set up in his apartment.
Authorities are trying to identify what is in the bottles through the apartment, as fire hoses are ready to use at any moment.
Authorities are seeking a robot to test a sample of the flammable fluid so that it may be identified while not tripping any wires that are set up.
It is reported that Holmes’ set up the apartment so that once authorities reached his apartment and busted through the door, it would set off the trigger for the bomb he had created.
Holmes’ parents live in San Diego, California. His mother is still in CA, however his father is currently on his way to Colorado to talk to his son who is currently in custody.
Holmes’ gave the authorities information about the bombs at his apartment, however since then has stopped cooperating.
Holmes’ family has released a statement as follows:
“Our hearts go out to those who were involved in this tragedy and to the families and friends of those involved. We ask that the media respect our privacy during this difficult time. Our family is cooperating with authorities in both San Diego and Aurora, Colorado. We are still trying to process this information and we appreciate that people will respect our privacy.”
Holmes’ will be appearing in court for the first time on Monday.
