Utah GOP Activist Faces Rape Charges

Utah Republican Party activist Gregory Nathan Peterson has been denied bail for  his arrest on 25 charges of rape, kidnapping, sexual abuse, assault, sexual battery and burglary.

Peterson, 37, of Orem, Utah faces was arrested in late July.  The charges involve four women.

Peterson is believed to lure women to his cabin south of Park City near Wasatch Mountain State Park. Two of the women say that they were assaulted on their first dates with the GOP member in 2011.  One of these women allege that the assault continued when Peterson drove her to his mother’s house.

Two other women have said they were assaulted around April 2012 at their homes in Salt Lake County.

Peterson’s cabin is known for it’s gathering he has there that attracts many top Utah Republicans.  His role in the party remains unclear, but it appears he is involved with the tea party and has organized a group called Rocky Mountain Conservative
