UK tennis player Andy Murray won the Olympic gold medal on August 5, against world champion, Roger Federer.

Murray, who had four losses in the Grand Slam finals, three of which were against Federer, surprised many when he defeated Federer 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 to win the men’s single finals.

“The atmosphere was unbelievable,” Murray, who is Scottish, said.  “They helped me get a few extra miles an hour on the last couple of serves, that’s for sure.  The adrenaline was pumping.  I went for some big serves and got them.  To be fair the whole week they’ve been amazing.”

Federer ended up winning the silver medal for Switzerland and Juan Martin del Porto from Argentina won the bronze.
