Michael Strahan is the new co-host for Live!

Kelly Ripa, announced the news on the morning of Sept. 4.

“It’s time for a new era of our show to begin.  It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you the newest member of our Live! family, Michael Strahan!” Ripa said.

Strahan, a former New York Giants defensive end, was the rumored choice to replace Regis Philibin, who departed the morning talk show last fall.  He had been on the show for 28 years.
