A University of Tennessee student, who is currently involved in a nationally publicized alcohol incident, has denied that he used an alcohol enema.

Alexander Broughton, 20, a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, had been hospitalized on Sept. 21 with a blood alcohol level over 0.40.

This incident made national news when police said that Broughton and some of his fellow fraternity brothers had been using enemas containing alcohol to get drunk.

“At this point my intent is to clear my name, my fraternity’s name and to punish those individuals and institutions responsible for the lies that have been spread around the world,” Broughton said.

A report from the University of Tennessee police department said after questioning fraternity members, that officers believe that the boys have been using the enemas.  Twelve members of the frat have been cited for underage drinking, one for disorderly conduct, and the fraternity chapter has been suspended.

The university has declined to comment on the situation.
