The National Hockey League has cancelled the first two weeks of its regular season.
Thanks to ongoing labor disputes with the players’ union the NHL has had to cut 82 games between October 11 to 24. It is currently unclear whether the games will be made up.
The key issue is with contract talks. The players are fighting for more money from the $3 billion revenue the games bring in.
A labor dispute similar to this occurred seven years ago, and led to the entire 2004-2005 season being cnaceled.
So far, no future negotiations are currently scheduled.
