Fifty-two people were hurt on Oct. 5 in a pileup on the interstate highway in Florida.

The accident, which occurred around 3:30 p.m., involved about 46 vehicles in the southbound lanes of I-75.  It was at the Manatee/Sarasota country line.

29 people, three of which are in critical condition, were taken to the hospitals.  None of the injuries are considered life-threatening, however.

The incident occurred around the time of an afternoon thunderstorm, and the Florida Highway Patrol believe that weather was a contributing factor.
