Russell Crowe and wife, Danielle Spencer, are divorcing.

Although the couple met more than 20 years ago on the set of the 1990 movie The Crossing, the two only wed in April 2003.

The split of the New Zealand-born Oscar winner, 48, and his Aussie musician wife, 43, comes after rumors of a rocky romance over the summer.  Spencer had been photographed in June leaving a Sydney casino lounge with Damian Whitewood, her pro dance partner on the 12th season of Australia’s Dancing with the Stars.  However, just days later, a photo of Crowe affectionally greeting his wife seemed to hush the rumors.

Spencer is currently in Sydney with their sons, Charles, 8, and Tennyson, 6, while Crowe remains in N.Y.C.
