SAN FRANSISCO- The Detroit tigers put their star ace on the mound last night in game one of the world series hoping to get a 1-0 lead. well there going to have to keep hoping because Verlander did not get the job done last night. He got banged around as the Giants padded up 6 runs against Detroit’s  star ace before he was taken out in the 4th inning. This is highly unusual for Former Cy Young Award winning who hasn’t lost a game since Sept 8th.Verlander is one of Baseballs most dominating pitchers but there was nothing dominant about his performance last night.

Verlander was disappointed but by no means discouraged as he says in the quote below

Is it disappointing? Yeah. Would you have liked to have won Game 1? Absolutely. But the three guys behind me have been pretty dag-gone good as well. This isn’t the end of the world by any means.” – Justin Verlander –.

There was a unlikely hero in last night game, And yes people it was Barry Zito who was once Baseballs Premier Pitcher.Everybody seemed to question and doubt the Giants management for starting Zito. Zito Showed glimpses of why he was once one of baseballs dominant pitchers. Zito struck out 3 batters and gave up only 6 hits and one earned run.As he was taken out in last night game in the 5th inning he received a ovation from the home crowd.
