Florida has finally declared that President Barack Obama won the state after four days of counting votes.
As a result of Obama’s win over Mitt Romney, he gained the state’s 29 electoral votes, bringing the total to 332 electoral votes to Romney’s 206. However, recardless of the outcome, Obama had already won re-election.
With almost 100 percent of the vote counted, Obama led Romney 50 percent to 49.1 percent, making a difference of around 74,000 votes. This was over the margin which would have required an automatic recount, unless Romney had waived it.
The win ended up giving Obama victories in eight of the nine swing states. He won Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Virginia, Colorado, Nevada, and Florida, only losing in North Carolina.
