Courageous teen activist Malala Yousafzai has been released from the hospital.
Malala is currently recovering in her temporary home in the West Midlands on Jan. 4 after being discharged from a British hospital.
The 15-year-old became an international symbol of courage after she was targeted and shot in Pakistan by Taliban gunmen for speaking out in favor of education for Pakistani girls. She was left with life-threatening head and neck wounds.
However, now just three months later, she’s on the mend. Doctors are planning to perform cranial reconstructive surgery to replace a shattered portion of skull with either her own bone or a titanium plate. The surgery would occur before February.
Malala’s entire family, including her father, who has been hired by Pakistan’s consulate in Birmingham as an education attache, her mother, and younger brothers, Khushal and Atul, are in England as she recovers. Her father has been given the job for three years, but it could be extended for an additional two.
