No players elected to the baseball Hall of Fame

For the second time, in about 40 years, baseball writers did not give any player the green light to be inducted into the Cooperstown. The awards and accomplishments by Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and Sammy Sosa were overshadowed by suspicions of the use of performance-enhancing drugs. Voters also denied newcomers Craig Biggio, Mike Piazza and Curt Schilling among others such as Jack Morris, Jeff Bagwell and Lee Smith from Hall of Fame induction. On July 28 at the ceremonies in Cooperstown, the only inductees will be three individuals who died more than 70 years ago: Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert, umpire Hank O’Day, and catcher Deacon White.

Infamous serial killer’s mother passes away

Louise Bundy, the mother of the infamous serial killer Ted Bundy, has passed away at the age of 88 after suffering from a longtime illness. Lousie Bundy was a married mother of five who worked as a secretary when her son’s secret life of a series of gruesome murders was exposed. She refused to believe the charges against her son for years, only believing after her son made a number of confessions while on death row. Ted Bundy eventually admitted to killing over two dozen women and was executed in 1989. On the day of his execution, his mother called him twice.
