Valerie Harper has terminal brain cancer.

The television icon, who is best know for her role as Rhoda Morgenstern on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off Rhoda, received the news on Jan. 15.

Tests revealed Harper, 73, had leptomenigeal carcinomatosis, a rare condition that occurs when cancer cells spread into the fluid-filled membrane surrounding the brain.  Her doctors told her that she has less then three months to live.

Harper, who previously battled lung cancer in 2009, said of her diagnosis, “I don’t think of dying. I think of being here now.”
