NEDA Creates #CaptureHope Instagram Campaign

Eating disorders impact 30 million people in The United States alone. Out of those 30 million people, only 1/10 will actually receive treatment. Eating disorders are a serious mental illness that affect a person’s emotional and physical wellbeing.

This year, Eating Disorder Awareness week took place February 23rd-March 1st. National Eating Disorder Association hosted several events and campaigns to spread eating disorder awareness.

NEDA explains “The goal of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week is to promote public and media attention to the seriousness of eating disorders and improve education about the biological underpinnings, environmental triggers, warning signs and how to help those struggling.”

Eating disorder awareness week was made up of events, speakers and blogs all in hopes of spreading eating disorder awareness. ¬†One of their most unique campaigns was through Instagram. The National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) teamed up with Instagram to spread the message “recovery is real” with their #CaptureHope¬†Instagram Campaign.

In the #CaptureHope campaign users were encouraged to share images that inspire hope.
