Gal Gadot, the New and Improved Wonder Woman?
Photos from DC Entertainment’s upcoming film “Superman vs. Batman: Dawn of Justice,” were released causing different reactions among fans. Surprisingly it’s not Batman (Ben Affleck) or Superman (Henry Cavill) that have fans buzzing. Instead it’s Wonder Woman who’s being portrayed by Israeli model, fitness trainer, and actress Gal Gadot.
Director Zac Snyder tweeted photos from San Diego Comic-Con showing an updated, and darker version of Wonder Woman. The new Wonder Woman will be ditching the traditional red, blue, and gold costume in favor of bronze armor.
Lynda Carter starred as Wonder Woman in “The New Adventures of Wonder Women,” television series from 1975 to 1979. Since then Wonder Woman has appeared in mostly animated television and movies, such as “Lego Batman.”
Gadot’s most notable role to date is Gisele from the popular “The Fast and Furious,” series. However portraying Wonder Woman is a much larger role, which may further increase her popularity.
Her casting has been controversial to diehard DC fans that claim she is not muscular enough to play the amazon hero. However she’s no stranger to staying in shape from her time as a model and trainer.
The jury is still out on the selection of Gadot, but the photos are definitely causing excitement. The Zack Snyder directed film is scheduled for release on May 6th, 2016.
