1. Calories burned per hour will be higher for persons who weigh more than 154 lbs (70 kg) and lower for persons who weigh less.
A study of approximately 300 participants conducted at Texas Christian University (TCU), has found that when individuals ordered from a menu that displayed the amount of exercise that would be needed to burn the calories after consumption, they ordered and ate fewer calories than those who ordered from a not-so-detailed menu. The goal of this research was to encourage consumers to make healthier and more informed food choices.
Ashlei James, a graduate student at TCU, amongst other researchers, conducted the study and the data was presented at the annual Experimental Biology 2013 Conference. The conference was held in Boston on April 20 through April 24. The study was also published in the April issue of the Federation of American Societies of Experimental Biology.
