Just when you thought Texas was cleaning up its reputation for bizarre behavior, Lyle Monroe Bensley destroyed any efforts. The 19 -year-old broke into a woman’s apartment wearing only boxers on Saturday morning. The teen began making “hissing and growling sounds” then biting and hitting the victim.

Lyle describes himself as a 500-year-old vampire who possessed a ferocious” need to feed.” The victim fled her bedroom while Lyle pursued as she jumped into a neighbor’s car for protection. He supposedly continued making animal-like sounds and hit the car’s window. The police were called around 6:50 a.m.; the police corroborated the bizarre sounds when the suspect was found in the parking lot.

“He was begging us to restrain him because he didn’t want to kill us,” Galveston Officer Daniel Erickson told The Houston Chronicle. “He said he needed to feed.”

The suspect also allegedly stated: “I’m a vampire, and I’ve been alive for over 500 years.”

As the saying goes “They do things BIG in Texas.” And Lyle sure did. A big, horrendous spectacle.
