Police are currently on a nationwide manhunt for the occupants of a black Range Rover at the center of a shooting in Las Vegas that claimed three lives.

The incident also involved a Maserati that was shot at and then subsequently crashed into a taxi, which caught fire.

The driver of the Maserati, whom has been identified as Kenneth Cherry Jr., died at the hospital, while the taxi driver and a passenger also died.

Cherry was an aspiring rapper known as Kenny Clutch.  He was just driving his Maserati down the Las Vegas Strip on Feb. 21, when someone in the Range Rover fired several shots at his car.  This caused the Maserati to continue into the intersection and collide with a taxi, which caught on fire, killing cab driver Michael Boldon, 62.

At this point, police have received multiple reports of vehicles which match the description, but have no information that the crime vehicle has been located.

Oscar Pistorius, the “Blade Runner” who made history last year as the first Paralympian to compete in the Olympics, has been charged with murdering his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp.

Steenkamp, 30, was found shot dead inside Pistorius’s home in South Africa, after being shot four times in the predawn hours.  The home is located in a gated community in Pretoria.

Steenkamp’s publicist Sarit Tomlinson said, “Our thoughts and prayers go to the Steenkamp family, who have asked to have their privacy respected during this difficult time, everyone is simply devastated.  She was the kindest, sweetest human being; an angel on Earth and will be sorely missed.

Police have stated that a 9 mm pistol was recovered at the scene.  Earlier reports state that Steenkamp was planning a Valentine’s surprise for Pistorious, 26, but it went horribly wrong.  These reports, however, have been unconfirmed by police.

There is no other suspect involved in the case, and previous incidents had occurred at Pistorious’ home.

The suspect, who initially wasn’t named per South African law, has been cooperative and undergone blood alcohol and forensic tests.  He has been requested to be brought straight to court and bail has been refused.

Pistorious’ court hearing was originally to have been down on the afternoon of Feb. 14, but has been postponed until Feb. 15 to give forensics investigators more time to carry out their work.

Conor Kennedy, best know for dating Taylor Swift, was arrested on Feb. 13, along with 47 others, for civil disobedience.

Kennedy, 18, had been protesting outside the White House against the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.

Arrested alongside him was his father, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., actress Daryl Hannah, and Sierra Club executive director Michael Brune.

The protesters had blocked a main thoroughfare in front of the White House, and refused to move when asked by police.  Both Kennedys were taken in handcuffs to a Park Police station, but were released after paying a fine.

The Keystone XL pipeline that they were protesting would bring oil from Canada’s tar sands to the Gulf Coast of the U.S.  The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have said that this would raise U.S. carbon pollution emissions by up to 27.6 million metric tons.

Christopher Dorner Believed to Be Dead Following Cabin Fire

An extensive search for fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner has finally appeared to be over.

A man believed to be Dorner was pinned down on Feb. 12 in a Southern California cabin.  A shootout occurred, which led to a standoff before police lobbed in tear gas and the cabin caught fire.

By nightfall, a body was found inside.  It is believed to be that of Dorner, but authorities say identifying the remains may take days.

A single gunshot heard earlier near the cabin wounded two sheriff’s deputies, one fatally, bringing the total number of people killed by Dorner to four.

Authorities believe Dorner’s wave of violence was retribution for having been fired by the LAPD in 2008 after making false statements.  He said he wouldn’t stop killing until the LAPD publicly proclaimed his innocence and restored his reputation.

Last week, Dorner had fatally shot Monica Quan, 27, and her fiancé, Keith Lawrence in Irvine, Calif.  Quan was the daughter of a former LAPD officer who Dorner claims messed up his termination appeal.

After failing to steal a boat, Dorner attacked more victims, this time police officers. He shot at LAPD officers protecting one of his targets, but was able to escape.

Just thirty minutes later, he ambushed two officers at an intersection, killing one of them and sending the other to the hospital.

3 People and Gunman Dead in Shootout

Four people, including the gunman, were found dead in an Aurora, Colorado home after police exchanged fire with the gunman.  The incident occurred on Jan. 5.

A woman who had earlier escaped uninjured from the house told police she saw three lifeless people inside.  She also said that the man had been firing shots inside the residence prior to 3 a.m.

During the subsequent standoff, the gunman had behaved “very irrationally,” according to the police.  He had hung up the phone on negotiators, ignored bullhorn commands to exist the premises, and the tear gas used did not faze him.

Five hours into the standoff, a SWAT team broke out a house window and the gunman proceeded to fire at them and their armored vehicle.  No one was injured and the police did not return fire at the time.

However, just an hour later, the gunman fired upon officers from a second-floor window, and police did return fire.  A bullet struck the suspect dead.  No officers were injured.

When police entered the residence, they found the gunman dead in an upstairs bedroom, and two men and a woman, all deceased.

Police believe that everyone in the home knew each other, and may have possibly been related.  The names of the victims and gunman have also yet to be released.

This is the second major incident involving gun incident in Aurora in the past year.  The city had been a scene of a massacre in July after a man killed 12 people and injured 58 in a movie theatre.

The body of missing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway has been found.

The Colorado girl had been missing for over a week, and a human body had been found on Wednesday.  However, police did not confirm until Friday that the remains were of Ridgeway.

“It is with a great deal of sorrow in my heart that I inform you that the body that was found in Arvada has been positively identified as Jessica Ridgeway.  The mission has changed from a search for Jessica to a mission of justice for Jessica,” said Lee Birk, police chief of Westminster, Colo.

Authorities have said that this case will be difficult to investigate, as it involved a young girl who was snatched, murdered, and then dismembered so badly, that it took a couple of days to positively identify her remains through DNA.

On Oct. 5, the 4-foot-10-inch-tall, 80 lb. girl had disappeared at about 8:30 a.m.  She was walking the few blocks from her home to the park, where she meets friends for the 1.5-mile walk to Witt Elementary.  Earlier in the search, Ridgeway’s backpack was found six miles away in a residential area.  Her body was discovered in a different area, in a park seven miles from her home in Arvada, Colo.

So far, Ridgeway’s family has been cleared of any suspicion.

A University of Tennessee student, who is currently involved in a nationally publicized alcohol incident, has denied that he used an alcohol enema.

Alexander Broughton, 20, a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, had been hospitalized on Sept. 21 with a blood alcohol level over 0.40.

This incident made national news when police said that Broughton and some of his fellow fraternity brothers had been using enemas containing alcohol to get drunk.

“At this point my intent is to clear my name, my fraternity’s name and to punish those individuals and institutions responsible for the lies that have been spread around the world,” Broughton said.

A report from the University of Tennessee police department said after questioning fraternity members, that officers believe that the boys have been using the enemas.  Twelve members of the frat have been cited for underage drinking, one for disorderly conduct, and the fraternity chapter has been suspended.

The university has declined to comment on the situation.

Police Search for Surgeon Suspected of Killing Ex-Girlfriend

Wisniewski, 33, was found dead in a stairwell at the Erie County Medical Center. She had been shot four times, and police do not believe it was a random act of violence. Jorden could not be found after police discovered his ex-girlfriend’s body.

All four vehicles registered in Jorden’s name have been accounted for. A neighbor of Jorden told Associated Press that he did hear a shot on Thursday morning, but did not think much of it at the time. Police also searched Jorden’s home and a ravine near the house, although they did not find anything.

Sources close to Wisniewski told reporters that the pair broke up because Wisniewski believed Jorden was having an affair. Ever since the break-up, the woman feared her ex and tried to stay away from him.

Authorities are concerned that Jorden may try to cross the border into Canada, and have put out a pick-up order if Jorden is seen. Police also believe that Jorden may be armed and dangerous. To read more, click here.
