A Marine shot and killed two of his fellow Marines at a Virginia base on the night of March 22, and then committed suicide.

Authorities have yet to disclose a motive and are currently investigating the incident.  The identities of the victims have also not been released, as authorities work to notify next of kin.

The shooting comes just as the Corps grieves another tragedy: the deaths of seven U.S. Marines in a training exercise in Nevada on March 18.

Police are currently on a nationwide manhunt for the occupants of a black Range Rover at the center of a shooting in Las Vegas that claimed three lives.

The incident also involved a Maserati that was shot at and then subsequently crashed into a taxi, which caught fire.

The driver of the Maserati, whom has been identified as Kenneth Cherry Jr., died at the hospital, while the taxi driver and a passenger also died.

Cherry was an aspiring rapper known as Kenny Clutch.  He was just driving his Maserati down the Las Vegas Strip on Feb. 21, when someone in the Range Rover fired several shots at his car.  This caused the Maserati to continue into the intersection and collide with a taxi, which caught on fire, killing cab driver Michael Boldon, 62.

At this point, police have received multiple reports of vehicles which match the description, but have no information that the crime vehicle has been located.

3 People and Gunman Dead in Shootout

Four people, including the gunman, were found dead in an Aurora, Colorado home after police exchanged fire with the gunman.  The incident occurred on Jan. 5.

A woman who had earlier escaped uninjured from the house told police she saw three lifeless people inside.  She also said that the man had been firing shots inside the residence prior to 3 a.m.

During the subsequent standoff, the gunman had behaved “very irrationally,” according to the police.  He had hung up the phone on negotiators, ignored bullhorn commands to exist the premises, and the tear gas used did not faze him.

Five hours into the standoff, a SWAT team broke out a house window and the gunman proceeded to fire at them and their armored vehicle.  No one was injured and the police did not return fire at the time.

However, just an hour later, the gunman fired upon officers from a second-floor window, and police did return fire.  A bullet struck the suspect dead.  No officers were injured.

When police entered the residence, they found the gunman dead in an upstairs bedroom, and two men and a woman, all deceased.

Police believe that everyone in the home knew each other, and may have possibly been related.  The names of the victims and gunman have also yet to be released.

This is the second major incident involving gun incident in Aurora in the past year.  The city had been a scene of a massacre in July after a man killed 12 people and injured 58 in a movie theatre.

A shooting involving 10 people has occurred at New York’s Empire State Building.

Jeffrey Johnson, a fashion accessories designer, shot a former co-worker at close range on Aug. 24 near the Empire State Building.  Johnson, 41, was disgruntled from being fired from Hazan Imports over a year ago.

The police were quickly called to the scene and gunfire between the two followed.  Eight bystanders were wounded in the shooting, by Johnson and possibly by police, and are all expected to recover.  Johnson ended up being killed by the police officers.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg issued a statement saying that the wounded has been “grazed” and that two of those wounded were women, while the rest were men.

This incident is the third major shooting of the summer in the United States.  This follows the events in Colorado and at the Sikh temple in Wisconsin.

Texas Police Open Deadly Fire on Middle School Boy

On Wednesday, 15-year-old Jaime Gonzalez, a student at Cummings Middle School in Browning, Texas was fatally shot by policemen who thought he branded a weapon.  It turned out to only be a pellet gun though, but it looked like the real thing.  Now these police officers are defending their actions to the community.

The boy’s father, Jaime Gonzalez Sr., wants to know why so much excess force got used on a minor.  According to the law, if the perpetrator appears to not only be wielding a weapon but threatening innocent victims around him, then the police have the unfortunate task of using deadly force to take that threat down before anyone gets hurt.

Three shots were used to take down the young man, including one to the back of the head.  Jaime’s mother now has photos of the tragedy on her phone to show of the injustice she believes took place against her son.  Along with those photos she also has one of her son in his drumming uniform, a stark contrast of the life and vitality he held before he was killed that day.

Interim Police Chief Orlando Rodriguez’s defense is that Jaime kept pointing the gun at him and his officers and that the child had more than enough opportunities to relinquish his weapon but did not take them.  They had a right to protect themselves and other students’ lives.

Before the confrontation occurred Jaime had walked into a classroom and punched another student in the face for no apparent reason.  Police believe his move to pull out the gun after that became a ploy for attention.

The shooting happened during the school’s first period, at which time upon hearing the confrontation, teachers locked their classroom doors, turned off the lights, and students hid under their desks in terror.

It is still unknown why a kid like Jaime Gonzalez did what he did.  His parents had spent time with him the night before the incident and nothing seemed amiss.  He was a good student and a help around his neighborhood, mowing people’s lawns and fixing other kids’ bikes.  They don’t even know where the gun came from.  That same night of the incident many of his friends gathered outside his house to pay their respects and let his parents know how much he will be missed.

Virginia Tech Gunman Caught Dead

Four years ago, in April 2007, Virginia Tech became the site of one of the bloodiest shooting rampages in contemporary U.S. history when a mentally unstable gunman took over thirty lives.  The school came into the spotlight again on Thursday when another gunman took the life of Officer Deriek W. Crouse.

Officer Crouse had pulled someone over on a routine traffic violation on the campus when the gunman approached him while he was still in his car and opened fire.  Crouse did not have a chance to defend himself.

There has been no connection reported between the gunman and Officer Crouse.  Even so, investigators do not consider the incident an act of randomness.  They do reveal that there are indications of the gunman having targeted the officer upon arriving on campus.

At this time, investigators are fairly certain of who the gunman is but are waiting for lab results for final confirmation before releasing it to the public.  They believe it is possibly a man who had stolen a rental car earlier that day near the general area.  They know he was not a student or former student of Virginia Tech, but what they do not know is why Officer Crouse.

Authorities say the driver of the vehicle Crouse had pulled over just before the shooting occurred had nothing to do with the unfortunate event and has been very helpful with the investigation.

The gunman was seen running away from the scene of the crime and into nearby greenhouses on campus where he changed clothes and continued to flee.  Before he could get caught though, he took his own life.  Police found him on the floor with a self-inflicted gunshot.

Officer Crouse was thirty-nine years old with a wife and five children.  The circumstances of his death brought back bad memories for many and so the school has opened its doors to counseling for those in need of it.  That same night about 150 students gathered for an unofficial vigil in honor of the victims of the 2007 tragedy.
