The Ohio legislature is considering a new bill that would make it harder to get Viagra.
In Senate Bill 307, male patients would be required to see a sex therapist before getting Viagra for their erectile dysfunction. This is an effort to “guide men to make the right decision for their bodies.”
The proposed legislation is backed by Cleveland Democrat Sen. Nina Turner, and is a response to the controversial Heartbeat Bill. The bill would ban abortion if the fetal’s heartbeat can be detected.
Sen. Turner said in an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Jansing, “For far too long, elected officials, especially women, have advocated our responsibility to show men much love in the reproductive health arena as they have show us over the years. So my Senate Bill 307 is all about the love and making sure we look out for men’s sexual health.”
The bill would require doctors to tell their patients about the risks of taking the drug, keep the patient’s erectile dysfunction prescription records on file, and have men sign a document that states they understand the risks associated with the little blue pill. The Heartbeat Bill also has the same requirements for women seeking an abortion.
